Rubber stamps come in several flavors, business rubber stamps (for return addresses, labels,
dates, etc) music chord stamps (for diagramming chords) and art rubber stamps for making art.
Rubber stamp art can be made with paper cards, envelopes, scrapbooks, journals and similar media.
Rubber stamping is an art form. As a painter uses brushes and paints, a rubber stamp artist uses
art rubber stamps, ink, embellishments and other items for their chosen media. These tools are their
means for creative expression.

Stampola started out in 2002 as a hobby gone wild. I loved Rubber Stamps and Handmade Card Making (Scrapbooking wasn't all the rage yet). I had worked as a volunteer at a couple of Rubber Stamp Shows, one in Puyallup, WA and the other two out of Grapevine, TX. I was so inspired by the Designs and the Owner of Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers. I had two friends (who happened to be married) that were professional cartoon artists, who were willing to work on commission. I worked in IT, I understood databases and had webskills. I did my homework, I saved my money, and I started Stampola.
It was a great success. Within a year, we had two women working for us full time, our livingroom and dining room was full of inventory, we were running ads in The Rubber Stamper and Rubber Stamp Madness. We were paying for web banners on sites that hosted rubbers stamping forums. It was a beautiful thing.
In early 2003 I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. It wasn't un-expected, but it also wasn't expected. Did I forget to mention along the way that I also had a full-time job? Ha ha! Well, once the baby came, I struggled for a few months trying to make it work, but it was hard. We decided to scale back Stampola out of survival, we could always ramp it back up someday.
In 2005 we had our second child, a son...so now we had 2 children, full-time careers, AND Stampola. It was just too much. We decided once again to scale back Stampola, this time even further. As a result, we have all of these wonderful RETIRED designs that we used to make, but that are no longer available except perhaps on eBay. They are wonderful designs and I am really proud of them all. Maybe some day we will offer them again for sale, or perhaps someone will license them from us, who knows? But for now, they sit in our archives, waiting for the day when we will once again have time to have jobs, children AND a home business.
